For the DMV

Right now, our local regional DC metropolitan hip hop scene that does not include Baltimore nor Richmond (aka The DMV) is like the unemployment office – overcrowded. The last 18 months or so has every aspiring artist with a myspace page, some tight jeans, fluorescent sneakers and a mixtape thinking they’re the next Wale.

In such an overcrowded market it is really important to help separate those who are actually doing big things.

Long time readers of this blog know that I’m big fans of both XO and Judah. Well get ready, cuz they’re dropping a new project on February 14th entitled the Natural High EP. My spidey senses tell me its going to be fire. That’s why they got the spaced-out dude in the flame retardant suit on the cover.

Aspring DMV twitter-rappers take note. EPs are the new Mixtapes. Also, well designed web graphics announcing your project 3 weeks ahead of time might just get you coverage on my blog.

LOL

UPSET THE SETUP! XO UPTOWN! JUDAH! DC HIP HOP FOR THE DMV

  1. Take special note to how they designed a CD cover first, and then built an online campaign around that…

  2. Sad that u have to tell people that isn’t it?

  3. right. too many rappers not enough smart cats teaching them how to be a brand!
