Off the table

28Aug08

The marginalization of Jimmy Carter at this year’s DNC should drive home the message that within the Democratic Party of these United States, certain issues are off the table. Candidates and spokespeople will not even dare to raise these issues. I’ve put together a list of such issues from my observations of this decade’s political activity. If these issues mean something to you, then you are to the left of Dennis Kucinich. Your options are to vote for Obama/Biden knowing that these issues are not going to be part of the political discourse, abstain from the election, or cast a symbolic vote for Cynthia McKinney and the Green Party (or the independent minor party of your choice ) – hoping to garner 5% of the national vote – thus helping to make that minor party a viable option in future elections.
