The annual Washington Area Music Association Awards are coming up. Sunday, February 17 at The State Theatre Falls Church, VA.
Big ups to Head-Roc, Noyeek The Grizzly Bear, Storm, Priest Da Nomad, Poemcees, Dirty Water, Zimbabwe Legit, and all the other nominees!
A few questions for WAMA – How exactly do The Evens classify as Hard Rock? And last time I checked W. Ellington Felton is an indivdual, not a group.
Update – the Post has a wrap up of winners. Aww, if I had known Ms. Wilitz was gonna be there, I would have come out!

Cover band Wicked Jezebel beat out the Evens for the award. Ha ha. Rappers Wale and Tabbi Bonney were not nominated, nor were Charles County Lamonts regulars Jim Bennett & Lady Mary whose song “Sometimes” get some Saturday airplay on WPFW and on other downhome grown folks soul/blues radio programs around the country.
