Remember when Lisa was doing the cabbage patch singing “There’s some hos in this house! There’s some hos in this house!” ?!

lisa’s name came up repeatedly in my research on black philanthropy, wealth disparity, and youth activism. i found her writing ahead of its time, passionate – insightful.

i can imagine how much those who knew and loved her must miss her.

i found myself wanting know how she would break down the complexity of issues coming to the fore in this campaign season.

is there a good source of archives of her writing and\or somewhere to find out what happened that silenced her voice way too soon?

  5. Rhesa, lisa touched so many of us and truly changed my life. Thank you for pursuing her life’s work. I was a lil wet behind the ears bamma when she took me under her wing. I often wonder what she would have to say about the current state. I am still waiting, with heavy heart, to hear what she had to say about 9/11. She believed in me then, and I hope she still gets down with what I am doing now.

  6. Dear Rhesa,
I miss Lisa in more ways than I ever thought possible. I also wonder what she’d say about this complex political situation we now navigate. Just so you’ll know, it was pulmonary hypertension that stilled her heart in the midst of battle. I take solace that she continues to watch over us, cheering us on in this never-ending struggle.

  7. I just found Lisa today. I love strong Sista Soldiers. I am beginning a study on Black Millionairs. Our President will most of all need our prayers, but also our eyes, ears and all our talents. Not everyone is happy with this historical outcome. We must take nothing for granted. Watch, fight and pray for the battle never gives over (The Bible).

    Lisa,

What would have been your birthday of 2009 is only a few months away. I will never be able to tell you thank you for the profound impact you had on my life. You scolded and molded and educated me into a far better person than I ever would have been had I not met you and all that the amazing activists I met through my work at LISTEN, Inc.

Big Up to you for the legacy and the path that you created.
