Did you know?

Youth are inappropriately and unnecessarily confined in DC.  Most
youth at Oak Hill are there for non-violent offenses and do not pose a threat
to public safety.

The District spends $150,000 per year to lock up a youth at Oak Hill –
more than the cost of tuition at Harvard University – and only $12,000 per
year to educate a youth in DC’s public school system;

100% of the youth locked up at Oak Hill are youth of color!

    Now THAT my friends, is a set up. Streamlining the incarceration process for people of color like only America can.

    I heard a piece on the radio recently about how public schools in Texas (high schools, middle schools, and YES, elementary schools) are increasingly “collaborating” with law enforcement to help “deter” discipline problems. The results are parents having to make court dates and nine year olds with felony rap sheets.
